The work, which involves the main span on the bridge, and not the on- and off-ramps, started on Monday, and was expected to finish last night.
A detour in place from 6pm to 7am diverted traffic via St Andrew St and the back of the Dunedin Railway Station, a DCC spokesman said.
Today contractors would start resurfacing work on the northbound lane in Wharf St from the bridge to Kitchener St. That work is expected to be completed by the weekend, weather permitting.
