DCC plans for unvaxxed staff

The Dunedin City Council is working with a small number of staff unvaccinated against Covid-19 to plan their reintegration into the office.

They were continuing to work from home in the meantime, a council spokesman said.

Staff and adult visitors were required to show a vaccine pass to enter council premises from early December last year, but the requirement was lifted early last week.

No staff lost their jobs as a result of their vaccination status.

Virtually all staff had continued to work through the Omicron outbreak, either remotely or from the office, the spokesman said.

There was minimal change for staff for now, he said.

New Zealand had moved to the less restrictive Covid-19 Orange traffic light setting, but case numbers remained high in the South.

"Our focus continues to be on business continuity to limit disruption for staff, facilities and services," the spokesman said.

"So far, this approach has helped ensure all critical services are maintained and has served our city well."
