When fees were last adjusted for the Dunedin City Council’s public pools, they moved by about 10%.
This was to cover cost increases and to ensure the council met its revenue and financing policy.
For casual rates, an adult swim at Moana Pool and the St Clair and Mosgiel pools went from $7.60 to $8.40, a child swim from $3.50 to $3.90 and toddler time from $4.50 to $4.90. Concession casual rates for people with a Community Services Card, tertiary student ID or SuperGold card went from $4.40 to $4.80.
Percentage increases were much smaller in some other categories.
A six-month adult membership across the four pools, including Port Chalmers, rose from $284.70 to $286, or 1%.
A six-month child membership increased from $142.10 to $143, or 1%.
Some categories relating to the Moana Pool gym fell.
This was partly driven by unintended consequences from the earlier introduction of an option for weekly direct debit making longer-term memberships comparatively less attractive, councillors were told last year.
The alignment then had to be corrected.
Fee changes came in on July 1 last year and they will again be considered before the 2025-34 long-term plan is adopted this year.
