Troupe director and founder Delilah Thomson said about 30 members of the troupe performed a three-part show titled Inhale, Exhale, Breathe, which was inspired by and linked with the James Cameron "Challenging the Deep" travelling exhibition at the museum.
This part of the overall dance performance had a strong hip-hop flavour and was choreographed by Whatu Ngatai Tangirua.
Thomson said that, since being established more than two years ago, the troupe had performed many times, including at iD Fashion Week.
The dancers were "extremely talented" semiprofessionals who were also completing their University of Otago studies.
Yesterday's first performance at the museum had gone "really well", she said.
