The boy racers who ripped up Warrington domain on Saturday morning may have spun their last donuts there - with the community set to discuss the ongoing problem at a meeting this week.

Police were called to the area shortly after midnight after receiving multiple calls saying boy racers were driving around the domain, Constable Jon-Paul Tremain, of Waikouaiti, said.

The vehicles were gone by the time police arrived.

Six vehicles were later stopped by Dunedin police, but were found to be compliant so no charges were laid, he said.

The domain had been reduced to a boggy mess as boy racers repeatedly targeted the soggy grounds, he said.

Const Tremain said members of the community should not put themselves at risk by confronting the boy racers, but they could decide to restrict vehicle access to the domain at a meeting on Thursday.

"If they do that, the problem goes away," he said.

Ways to tackle the boy-racer problem will be discussed at a public meeting at Warrington Memorial Hall at 7.30pm, with the community board ready to act quickly on any recommendations.
