Police have retrieved a radio stolen from members of Campus Watch after they were accosted by teenagers while on patrol earlier this week.
The two Campus Watch staff were walking through the Botanic Gardens in Dunedin towards Gore Pl, about 5.30pm.
Two teenaged boys on a bike "hassled" and "abused" them, University proctor Dave Scott said..
"They grabbed the radio and took off," Mr Scott said.
"The police were extremely helpful, managing to track down the two youths. The radio was retrieved from one of their residences and they have been referred to Youth Aid [by] the police."
Mr Scott said the teenagers involved were aged between 14 and 16 years old and were not university students.
Alcohol-infused incidents aside, it was rare for the Campus Watch not to be treated with "respect and friendliness" at the university, he said.
