Police are chasing a man who escaped on foot near a popular Dunedin tourist beach after allegedly stealing a motorbike.
Officers were called to Tunnel Beach Rd at 2.20pm after a member of the public spotted the vehicle.
It was believed to have been taken from Green Island Bush Rd.
A police spokesman said the man left the scene on foot and police were searching for him.
There is a cordon at Tunnel Beach Rd.
