Police have thanked members of the public who helped them apprehend a wanted man in Mosgiel yesterday afternoon.
Officers swooped on Green St and began a search for the man close to a primary school.
A police spokeswoman said officers had been deployed to apprehend a ''known individual''.
A police dog was understood to be involved in the search and officers were looking in back yards for the man.
Silverstream (South) Primary School principal Greg Hurley said police advised the school to only allow pupils to leave only through the back gate in Arran St and not via Green St, as a police dog was operating in the area.
Police confirmed about 3.30pm the man had been arrested in High St and would face charges. thanked members of the public for their assistance.
The man was still being interviewed at 5pm yesterday and it remained unclear what charges he would face.
