David Russell Bond (71) is currently serving a term of 25 months, imposed for 20 indecent acts on seven children, and was due to come before the Parole Board this month.
That hearing will now be vacated.
At the Dunedin District Court this morning, the ex-Otago Boys High School maths teacher - appearing by video link from prison - pleaded guilty to three more charges of indecent assault which occurred in 1999 when the victim was 15.
A police summary of facts said the surreptitious sex attacks on the pupil took place at least 20 times over 10 months.
Bond, as he had done with others in his classes, would lean over the boy’s shoulder pretending to help him with his work.
While doing so, he would press his groin into the victim’s shoulder “maintaining this pressure while continuing to converse”, the court heard.
In late 1999, Bond instructed the victim to remain behind after class.
When they were alone, the defendant closed the door and told the pupil to sit at a desk while he reviewed his work.
Bond, sitting opposite the victim, put his hand on the boy’s leg and moved it towards his groin.
“The victim became nauseous and confused by what was happening and ran from the classroom,” court documents said.
On another occasion, Bond orchestrated a similar scenario, isolating the pupil from his peers.
Once he got him alone, the teacher pressed his groin into the victim’s left knee and locked his thigh between his legs.
Bond then began to “grind” himself against the boy’s knee.
The defendant, who was living Cromwell following his retirement, has served two terms of home detention in the past decade for historic sex offences that emerged since his retirement, before he was jailed last year.
At his most recent sentencing a year ago, the court heard the defendant had told Probation he was not attracted to young men, not homosexual and could not explain his motives.
“I’m so ashamed. I don’t understand it,” Bond said.
The judge said the emotional impact on the victims was “severe” and many continued to be plagued by their historical trauma, affecting relationships with spouses and children to this day.
The majority of the incidents happened in the presence of other pupils but there was also one brazen assault that took place in front of other teachers.
In 2010, Bond entered a computer class being supervised by two other teachers and approached a pupil from the rear.
The defendant put his chin on the boy’s shoulder then pressed his body against him, only leaving when one of the staff members shouted at him.
Other instances were witnessed by junior cricketers who saw Bond rubbing himself through his shorts and indecently assaulted one 13-year-old player preparing to bat through the pretence of checking his protective box.
School rector Richard Hall, whose tenure at the helm did not cross over with Bond’s, “unreservedly” apologised to all old boys affected last year.
“We won't forget it and there is no attempt to distance ourselves from it,” he said at the time.
Bond will be sentenced in September.
