An alcohol-fuelled driver led police on a foot chase in South Dunedin on Thursday.
The chase did not end well for the 27-year-old Dunedin man who was arrested and charged with drink-driving, Senior Sergeant Anthony Bond, of Dunedin, said.
Police received a report of a car being driven in a dangerous manner in Midland and Timaru Sts in South Dunedin about 5.25pm on Thursday.
Police located the vehicle and signalled for it to stop, Snr Sgt Bond said.
The driver stopped the car, but then got out and ran off, he said.
"The athletic police officers managed to keep up with him and catch him."
The man was under the influence of alcohol and recorded a breath alcohol level of 1002mcg.
He was also a disqualified driver.
His car was impounded for 28 days and he would appear in court facing charges of driving while disqualified, drink-driving and failing to remain when stopped by police, Snr Sgt Bond said.
