A drunken Dunedin driver had her car impounded after she was reported swerving between lanes on the Southern Motorway, police say.
Senior Sergeant Anthony Bond, of Dunedin, said officers were called to reports of a woman swerving between lanes on the Caversham Valley Bypass (State Highway 1) about 4.30pm on Wednesday.
The woman was also the subject of an earlier complaint that said she was asleep at the wheel, Snr Sgt Bond said.
Police signalled for the woman to stop but she carried on driving for another kilometre before stopping at a red light.
Officers intervened and the woman recorded a breath alcohol reading of 812mcg.
The vehicle was impounded and the woman would appear in court charged with drink-driving.
Investigations were ongoing, Snr Sgt Bond said.
