A police checkpoint found more than a dozen drivers without seatbelts or who were using cell-phones — and one car driving without a windshield.
Senior Sergeant Anthony Bond, of Dunedin, said officers conducted a checkpoint on Crawford St (State Highway 1) about 8am yesterday.
About 14 motorists were discovered using cell phones or driving without seatbelts. They were given infringement notices, Snr Sgt Bond said.
One motorist was discovered to be driving without a windshield, although it was not clear what infringement action was taken, Snr Sgt Bond said.
He imagined that it "would get rather chilly" driving in the car, Snr Sgt Bond said.
