Burger King assault suspects still sought

Police are still searching for the offenders who carried out an assault at Burger King after a car swap deal went wrong.

But they are playing down the incident, saying the pocket knife attack was not considered to be a stabbing.

Todd Casey had recently
swapped a vehicle with a Dunedin man, who then claimed the vehicle he had received had a faulty fuel pump - a claim Mr Casey rejected.

On Wednesday last week, he was seen by a group of people in a white van, one of whom was apparently the person who had swapped a car with Mr Casey and was demanding money.

The white van sped through the car park of the Andersons Bay Rd Burger King restaurant and stopped behind Mr Casey's vehicle, blocking his exit.

A man then rushed out of the van and attacked Mr Casey with a pocket knife. He suffered a small cut to his arm.

A police spokeswoman said no arrests had been made and police were ``awaiting further video footage''.

Despite Mr Casey being attacked with a knife, the incident was not considered a stabbing.

``Please note, however, this was not a stabbing. The victim suffered a cut to their arm - it's coded as an assault.''
