A couple who allegedly kidnapped a man in North Dunedin at the weekend have been bailed and ordered to surrender their passports.
Lisa Charlotte Simone Elise Peronnet (29), a waitress, and Antoine Andrew Dany Therle (29) held hands in the dock when they appeared at the Dunedin District Court yesterday.
They both face a charge of kidnapping and Therle is also accused of assaulting the same victim with intent to injure.
Police said a member of the public reported the incident in Duke St on Saturday evening.
The victim fought off his alleged abductors and fled to safety, they said.
Police did not oppose the defendants' bail, under strict conditions imposed by Judge Philip Connell yesterday.
The pair were ordered.-
- Not to contact the victim.
- Not to consume drugs.
- Not to go within 100m of an airport or shipping port.
- To report to the Dunedin central police station between 6am and 7.30pm.
- To reside at a central Dunedin address.
- To surrender passports.
- Not to leave the Otago region.
They will appear again in court next month.
