The charity held the Halberg Challenge in Dunedin yesterday, in which 20 teams of three completed a "virtual" triathlon using rowing machines and electric bikes to raise money for the charity.

This ran alongside the "Everybody In" sessions in which young people with physical disabilities could play adapted versions of football,  rugby and cricket.

Halberg spokeswoman Tash Dayal said it was great to see the interaction between the volunteers and children.

"The kids loved the football. I saw some of them getting quite competitive."

The foundation would know how much money was raised later in the week, she said.
