The Otago District Health Board expects to receive Southern Cancer Network's audit report on up to 32 referrals to Dunedin Hospital's colonoscopy service in a week's time.
Acting regional chief executive for the Otago and Southland boards Lexie O'Shea told the Otago board at its meeting on Thursday that once the report was received, it would be reviewed by the board's clinical team over the following couple of days.
The audit follows concerns raised by some Otago general practitioners about access to colonoscopy services at Dunedin Hospital which prompted Minister of Health Tony Ryall to call for an urgent report in October.
