Land Rover Owners’ Club Otago branch president Michael Adam said the branch was celebrating its 50th birthday in Dunedin this weekend.
The celebration includes a 45-vehicle trip to Maungatua today and a formal dinner at Chisholm Park Golf Club tonight.

The appeal of a 4WD was its ability to take people to remote places, Mr Adam said, "to see some great places other people don’t get to go to."
Club members also undertook volunteer work such as transporting nurses to hospitals and rest-homes on snow days.
Club member Gareth McLachlan built his off-road vehicle using a 1980s Land Cruiser chassis, a 1990s body and tractor tyres.
The vehicle had four-wheel steering, individual braking on each wheel and air suspension seats.
The parts of the vehicle were recovered from paddocks throughout New Zealand and Australia, Mr McLachlan said.
It was "a little bit" like Frankenstein, Mr Adam said.
