The incident happened about 9.30am yesterday.
Mr Cameron said he was in bed at the time, resting after the Highlanders' bruising win over the Crusaders at the weekend.
"I heard a big bang and I thought, 'What have I done wrong? Someone's throwing rubbish on my roof.'
"I looked out the window and saw a car on its roof, with a stereo playing American Boy.
"She's got good taste in music but it was lucky she didn't end up driving into my bedroom," he said of the driver.
Mr Cameron said she lost control of the Mitsubishi Mirage on a notorious bend on the hill road.
"It's a dangerous corner. Cars always lose it around there."
Constable Kim Bailey, of Dunedin, said the driver was fortunate not to receive serious injuries in the incident.
"I think she was very lucky. I can't believe she walked away without a scratch."
Const Bailey said police were still deciding if the driver would be charged.
