Organising team member Brad Kelderman, said the Easter event had been held at Tirohanga Presbyterian Camp in North Taieri for about 80 years, but had switched to the larger showgrounds venue last year.
About 140 young people had attended last year, accompanied by about 40 youth group leaders and adult volunteers.
About 50 youth leaders and volunteers had supported the larger group this year.
Moves to invite people from a wider range of Christian backgrounds, and growing momentum from the bigger event had contributed to the more than 40% rise in attendance, he said.
"Camp is a place to come to build positive relationships and connect with God in new and exciting ways through a diverse range of speakers, worship, community, sports and games,'' event organisers said.
"It was brilliant, really smooth, really great,'' Mr Kelderman said. The "wider range of groups'', mainly from Otago-Southland, proved positive as young people enjoyed both spending more time with members of their own respective youth groups, while also enjoying other people.
