Otago residents will have two opportunities to play a part in the opening of the Forsyth Barr Stadium.
The $200 million stadium will be officially opened by Prime Minister John Key on Friday, August 5.
A traditional mana whenua dawn blessing will be performed by local iwi, after which Mr Key will open the stadium in front of civic dignitaries, invited guests and members of the public.
On November 12, the Otago Daily Times will hold a free concert, the "Big Night In", to celebrate the newspaper's 150th anniversary and the opening of the stadium.
Dunedin Mayor Dave Cull said the "Big Night In" would be the first community event in the new facility.
"The ODT plays such an important part in Dunedin's affairs with its generous support of the city and the wider Otago region and I'm delighted that the city is joining with the ODT to stage this great event."
