Nearly 50 paintings, digital photographs, drawings and sculptures will be up for auction this month as part of the St Matthew's Anglican Church Secondary Schools Art Competition and Auction.
Competition co-ordinator Sue Lynch said the top four artworks from every secondary school in Dunedin had been entered in the competition and all were eligible for the top prize of $1000 off the cost of a laptop from Harvey Normans.
The artworks will be auctioned at St Hildas Collegiate School on August 29 at 6.30pm, and the artwork fetching the highest bid will win first prize.
While the artists will receive 30% of the sale price of their artworks, the remainder will go towards refurbishing the St Matthew's Church and Hall.
"The kids are very gifted and talented artists. It will be a real treat to see the artworks on display and have a bid for them."
