Membership of the club — which is a social and friendship group largely for retired Rotarians — has dwindled gradually over the years, but president Ross Merrett (76) is confident it has a future.
"We’re hopeful. There have been eight new members in the last year," taking the total to 58, he said.
Retired farmers from South Otago and the Southland region were responsible for the influx of members, Mr Merrett said.
The club meets every third Monday at the Taieri Bridge Club.
Taieri Community Board chairman Andrew Simms was a guest speaker.
