Caution urged after driver collides with caravan

Police are calling for caution on Dunedin roads after a driver collided with a caravan in wet weather.

Senior Sergeant Anthony Bond said officers were called to Stevenson St in the suburb of Concord about 8.40pm yesterday.

A 31-year-old man driving home from work lost control of his vehicle and crashed into a parked car and caravan, Snr Sgt Bond said.

The crash was witnessed by members of the public. The driver had been spoken to and investigations were ongoing.

The incident served as a reminder to drive to the conditions and be cautious on roads, given the wintry weather, Snr Sgt Bond said.

Officers would continue to conduct road safety checkpoints around the city.

Meanwhile, police stopped a 19-year-old woman who recorded a breath alcohol reading of 485mcg in Princes St at 9.30pm yesterday, Snr Sgt Bond said.

There is a zero limit for drivers under 20 years of age.

She was given a summons to appear in court, Snr Sgt Bond said.
