The initiative was held around the country as part of a petition to the Government to introduce a bottle deposit scheme.
Local organiser Fiona Clements said it gave out $20 in Dunedin yesterday.
''It would have been nice to have a bit more. A lot of my friends came and said to put the money back in.''
Several young children and school pupils participated, she said.
