Car hits bank and rolls in Dunedin (+ video)

Dunedin City Station firefighters get to work after a Mercedes A180 hit a bank and rolled on Portobello Rd. near Rosehill Rd, in Macandrew Bay this afternoon.

Inspector Kevin Lloyd, of Dunedin, said the car came to rest on its roof on Portobello Rd and traffic was down to one-lane for about 30 minutes.

The Mercedes was the only vehicle involved in the crash.

Emergency services were called at 1.37pm.

Station officer Cameron McLachlan, of Dunedin City Station, said the cause of the crash was unknown.

A St John spokeswoman said an ambulance attended but nobody was taken to hospital.

Mr McLachlan said the crew also attended a three car crash at the intersection of Prince Albert Rd and Bay View Rd in South Dunedin about 2.30pm.

The cause of the crash was unknown.

"It's a bit of a tough one to work out but someone has ploughed into the side of another car."

Nobody was injured, he said.

• A Toyota sedan rolled and came to rest on its roof in Brighton Rd, Brighton about 4.30pm today, Senior Sergeant James Ure said.

The car was being driven down a driveway when it hit a curb and rolled, Snr Sgt Ure said.

The driver was uninjured, he said
