A car lies on its roof metres away from the cold waters of the Otago Harbour after crash earlier this evening.
The crash happened just before 6.30pm after the driver lost control and rolled off Portobello Rd near Vauxhall.
A police spokeswoman said the driver was able to escape without injury and a tow truck has been called to remove the car before the tide came up.
No-one else was thought to be in the car at the time, she said.
