Exploring opportunities

Businesses and organisations chatted with students and members of the general public about career options on Thursday, at Otago Polytechnic’s annual employment expo.

Polytechnic career practitioner Khyla Johnston said it was a chance for people to meet employers and see what opportunities were out there.

Students who were foundation learners or who were about to graduate could all benefit from the event because it showcased graduate and internship opportunities.

"It is inspirational as well, especially for the public.

"There are so many opportunities to hopefully inspire them to see and maybe plant a bit of seed to think ‘I would love to do that for a career. How do I get to that?’."

There were a mix of Dunedin-based businesses and organisations as well as ones from across New Zealand and overseas at the event.

The polytech will host a Pasifika Careers Expo to explore the range of programmes and support services on offer on August 21.
