Iranian University of Otago zoology PhD student Mitra Darestani leads a protest march around the University of Otago campus, highlighting the abuse of women’s and human rights in Iran.
The protests are among many that have been held around the globe since September, when 22-year-old Mahsa Amini died in custody after she was detained for not wearing her hijab correctly.
The university was one of more than 200 around the world which took part in similar demonstrations yesterday.
