Firefighters were called to a fire at a central Dunedin cafe yesterday morning.
However, a worker had managed to put out the fire before firefighters arrived.
Senior Station Officer Ant O’Neill said Fire and Emergency New Zealand responded to reports of the stove-top fire at Potpourri Vegetarian Cafe in Moray Pl at 10.30am.
"They’ve had a fire on the stove-top at the back of the building — [it] sort of travelled into the ducting," SSO O’Neill said.
"We used a thermal imaging camera to make sure there was nothing left.
"It definitely had the potential to be a lot worse than it was. It was a pretty substantial fire on the stove-top, but the worker managed to put it out himself."
