Police in Dunedin are investigating the reported aggravated robbery of a 14-year-old Dunedin boy in Caversham early on Sunday.
Acting Senior Sergeant Paul McLaughlan said the teenager told police he was set upon by three men as he walked along Pencarrow St, about 2.30am.
''They assaulted him and took his backpack,'' Acting Snr Sgt McLaughlan said.
Although weapons were not used, the incident was still regarded as an aggravated robbery, because it involved two or more assailants, hesaid.
The teenager received minor injuries in the attack, which he reported to police later on Sunday.
Acting Snr Sgt McLaughlan said inquiries were continuing.
Officers were also concerned the boy had been walking alone through Caversham at 2.30am.
