Book sale’s new location ‘enormously better’

The early reviews are in — the Regent Theatre Book Sale’s move to a new location looks like a success.

The line for the event stretched all the way down Teviot St as the doors opened for the event at 10am yesterday.

This year marks a change from the event’s traditional Regent Theatre location.

"We are thrilled with the outcome of the new set-up, we’ve had some brilliant comments," volunteer Penny Smith said.

Parking space and wheelchair ramps made access "enormously better," Ms Smith said.

Early birds at the Edgar Centre were happy with the change in venue.

A wheelchair user was especially pleased.

"Much better. I found it difficult to get into the Regent Theatre."

Event organiser Kath Wallace said she believed the new location meant more books would be sold.

"We’ve been able to bring out books that were in storage for four years," she said.

The book sale will continue today from 10am to 10pm.
