More than 25,000 daffodils arrived yesterday, the first of the 85,000 flowers expected in Dunedin for the Cancer Society Otago appeal.
Otago Daffodil Day co-ordinator Gwen Macready said 15 volunteers put into bunches the 25,150 fresh daffodils that arrived yesterday from Turners and Growers in Christchurch.
The volunteers created more than 2500 bunches of 10 daffodils, which were pre-sold to Otago businesses.
About 25 volunteers would deliver them to the businesses, Mrs Macready said.
Daffodils will be sold on the streets on Friday.
