Outram Flower Show convener Daphne Macfarlane with one of the dahlias in her Outram garden as she prepares for the annual flower show this Friday.

Mrs Macfarlane said she was entering her dahlias, roses, and cut flowers this year.

Mrs Macfarlane said the summer growing weather had arrived late, but recent warm weather had brought strong colours to her flowers.

The show, at the Outram Church Hall, is open to the public from 2pm to 6pm, for a $2 admission fee (children are free).

Competition entries can be made on Thursday night and Friday morning.

There will also be a market stall, raffles, and afternoon tea.

Show treasurer Jessie Cousins, of Allanton, said early spring-like weather meant some plants had flowered earlier than usual this year.

Mrs McFarlane hoped the good growing season would ensure plenty of entries.
