More than 500 secondary school pupils descended on Dunedin for the 2017 Big Sing Otago and South Canterbury regional competition.

Children representing 22 choirs from 15 schools in Dunedin, Alexandra, Oamaru and Timaru took part in the event at the Dunedin Town Hall yesterday.

Results:

NZ composition or arrangement: Dolce Concordance singing Ua Lologo, Bayfield High School.

Classical composition: Sings Hilda singing Lux Aeterna, St Hilda’s Collegiate.

Other styles: Dunstanza singing MLK, Dunstan High School.

Most improved choir: Timaru Girls’ High School Chorale.

Student conductor award: Sarah Hubbard, Otago Girls’ High School.

Spirit of the festival: Dunstanza, Dunstan High School.
