The programme was run during the last two weeks of the term at beaches at St Clair, Kaka Point and Brighton.
About 15 schools completed the course each week, she said.
The programme concluded with a swim and Miss Lenagh-Glue assured pupils that a shark attack was an unfounded fear when swimming in Dunedin.
''They always think there is going to be sharks in the water. I've been lifeguarding in Dunedin for seven years and I've yet to see a shark.''
