Bathgate Park School pupils farewell departing principal Whetu Cormick at a special assembly yesterday.
Tributes and the odd tear flowed as the school community said goodbye to Mr Cormick, who has been in the role since the school was formed in 2012, after the merger of Forbury School and Macandrew Intermediate. As a parting gift he was given a painting by the school’s artist in residence Janet de Wagt.
Deputy principal Katrina Robertson will replace Mr Cormick, who has spent the past three years in Wellington as the president of the New Zealand Principals' Federation. He now plans to work in the education sector, at the national level.
