Excitement is building for the release of the Barbie movie today, and many Dunedin fans told the Otago Daily Times they were going to dress up for prescreenings last night.
Among those doing so were a group of students in it for Ken.
Jack Hanan described the Barbie co-star playing Ken, Ryan Gosling, as "literally me".
"[We are] watching solely for Ryan Gosling. He’s our hero, he’s me."
The ride or die Ryan superfans said they identifed with the "Ryan energy" that emanates from Gosling and were excited to immerse themselves in "Ryan’s Ken-ness" during the movie.
"I feel as through Ryan embraces me as a human being. He is more than a man crush, he’s everything," Mr Hanan passionately proclaimed.
"He has a lot of qualities I identify with. He is so soft spoken, he’s really passionate about what he does and I just really identify with him a lot."
While the boys said Margot Robbie, who plays Barbie, was also cool, it was all about Gosling for them.
Leon McIntyre, a fellow student, said Gosling was an inspiration to him and he expressed so much emotion in his work.
"He is our leading man," Mr McIntyre declared.
Apart from Ryan Gosling, the boys were also excited to hear the Ken song, and see the Malibu house and Barbie car.
"I think it’s going to be a good moment for us just to immerse ourselves in Barbie," Mr McIntyre said.
