Greer Holland is pumped up with a passion for balloon twisting.

The Dunedin girl got started when she saw her friend making balloon animals.

"I wanted to try it with her, so she taught me to make a dog," Greer said.

She was hooked, and had since been making all sorts of creations, including swans, butterflies, bees, flowers, swords and hats.

It took skill to manipulate the twisting balloons.

"You’ve got to have very nimble and quick fingers."

She may have popped a lot of balloons when she first began twisting but is now becoming a seasoned professional.

She has a regular stall at the Wingatui Artisan Crafters Market and has set up in business as G-Twister, offering her balloon creations for fairs and birthday parties.

Her mother, Lynnette Holland, said that she was proud of the entrepreneurial spirit her daughter displayed.

She became Greer’s assistant on market days, she said.

“I am in awe of Greer’s talent and how she deals with all the customers, young and old, and does not get flustered when people start watching her.

"She is learning a lot about all aspects of having a business, not something a lot of 11-year-olds know."
