Anderson's Bay School claimed the top honour at the Otago Daily Times Extra! current events quiz in Dunedin for the second successive year last night.
More than 300 years 5-8 pupils from around Dunedin and further afield searched their collective brains to answer a multitude of questions on topics from the solar system to the Royal family.
The winners of the years 5-6 quiz with 95 points were Isla Kamo, Aidan Blakie and Aria McFelin from Anderson's Bay.
The two-time winner said it felt great to be on top for a second time.
All three said the hardest question was one in which they had to identify a North Island volcano from a series of clues.
Runners-up were Hannah Bloxham (11), Jack Martin (10) and William Blakie (9), also from Anderson's Bay.
Adding to their success, Aidan and William are brothers.
Fairfield School was one point behind in third on 81 points.
The boys had attended Extra! quizzes since they were at primary school and it was the first time any of them had won the top prize.
They said an animation question stumped them, but they were able to regather to accumulate 92 points, three more than second-placed Tahuna.
More than 100 teams took part in the event at Bathgate Park School.
