Waitati artist Kate Fitzharris has won a major prize in the 2010 Portage Ceramic Awards, announced in Auckland last night.
Her work, Some Things for the Making, was awarded one of six $1000 merit prizes.
Elise O'Neill, of Abbotsford, and Nicola McLaren, of Mosgiel, were also finalists in this year's competition.
The $15,000 Premier Portage Award was won by Masterton ceramicist Kirsty Gardiner for Secrets a Jar.
