One of Aurora Energy’s executive leadership team has announced his resignation, only 10 months after he joined the company.
Warren Batchelor started as Aurora’s general manager of network performance in February this year.
His resignation was announced to Aurora staff on Thursday and Aurora released a statement about it yesterday.
An Aurora spokesman said: "General manager network performance Warren Batchelor has decided to take up a new role outside the electricity sector and he will be departing on 23 February. We are grateful to Warren for his significant contribution to Aurora Energy and in leading rapid change in the organisation’s asset management, engineering and delivery functions."
The spokesman said Mr Batchelor’s role included some oversight of Aurora’s pole testing and pole replacement programme, but said Mr Batchelor’s departure from Aurora was not linked to the recent failing of power poles.
Three power poles have fallen over in Alexandra in just over three months.
The Aurora website says Mr Batchelor was responsible for the network planning and performance for the Aurora Energy electricity distribution network in Dunedin and Central Otago, and managed the asset management, network engineering and design and programme delivery teams.
The website said Mr Batchelor had wide experience in the electricity distribution and manufacturing sectors, with a strong focus on asset management, engineering and network operations. Before his role with Aurora he held senior management roles at Vector, Aurora Energy (the state electricity provider in Tasmania) and Unison Networks.
