Artist making impossible a reality

It is not often you can walk all over an artwork.

But visitors to the Golden Centre in Dunedin are being welcomed by artist Sean Mueller (32) to tread on his recreation in pastel of M. C. Escher's Waterfall.

"I'm quite surprised at the number of people who don't realise I'm here working.

Some of them almost step on my fingers because they're busy texting.

"Hopefully, they will notice it more when it's finished."

Mr Mueller said the work would be interactive because people would be able to stand on the "impossible construction" and have their photograph taken.

It was created to help celebrate the opening of the walkway between the centre and the Wall Street mall and was expected to be completed tomorrow.
