Art gallery wins prizes at Museums Australia awards

The Dunedin Public Art Gallery has won two major awards at the 2011 Museums Australia multimedia and publication design awards.

The gallery won the "calendar of events and information brochure" category for its quarterly LOG and the "major exhibition catalogue" category for the catalogue Wayne Barrar: An Expanding Subterra.

Both winning entries were designed by gallery graphic designer Karina McLeod.

It was the second consecutive year the DPAG claimed two awards.

Last year it won first prizes for the Beloved: Works from the Dunedin Public Art Gallery Collection catalogue and for the "Beloved" exhibition's opening invitation.

The winners were announced at a presentation at the 2011 Museums Australia national conference in Perth this week.

"The whole team is tremendously excited about winning these two awards, especially as this is the second consecutive year that our work in this field has been recognised by this prestigious organisation and is testimony to the consistency of our efforts," gallery director Elizabeth Caldwell said.
