A contingent of more than 500 Highlanders supporters will march into Westpac Stadium on Saturday night as part of the ''Landers Army''.

A social media page set up to organise the ''army'' indicated the number could grow, with about 1400 signed up by noon yesterday.

Southern organiser Chris Brun, who will go to the game dressed as ''William Wallace's childhood friend Hamish'', said they would all ''march into the Cake Tin together ... in unison''.

''We're all meeting at the Shepherds Arms [Hotel] because that's one of the only places that has Speight's on tap,'' he said.

''They are doing us some deals ... '' Mr Brun said.

The group would then head to the stadium for the Super Rugby final against the Hurricanes.

Mr Brun, who co-owns The Print Room, organised T-shirts for the event after traditional blue and gold overalls became unavailable.

''We're printing 250 at this stage and then another 150 depending on how things go,'' he said.

He also delivered about 50 to the Highlanders players.

Getting tickets organised had been a ''nightmare'', Mr Brun said.

He had already organised a van and $2000 worth of ferry tickets before missing out on Monday's initial release.

However, in a co-ordinated ticket-buying process with northern organiser Andrew James, he managed to secure one.

Mr James, who set up the social media page and is organising the event from Auckland, said they had fans joining them from throughout the country, including from Taranaki, Christchurch, the West Coast, Central Otago and Invercargill.

''I'm going to be dressed as William Wallace and leading the northern army into Wellington.

''I'll be bringing a contingent of ex-pat scarfies from Auckland.''

He said he was ''stoked'' to be going.

''I'm just proud to be going and we're really proud of the boys and what they have done so far,'' he said.
