The countdown to the return of New Zealand’s premier fashion shows has started, and models could be seen strutting down the railway runway yesterday for some last-minute preparation.

On April 1, the iD Dunedin Fashion Week is set to begin and final preparations are under way.

iD event manager Victoria Muir said the much-anticipated railway show on April 5 was almost sold out.

"Planning's going really well and ticket sales are going well — the Saturday night show’s nearly sold out and there's a few tickets left for Friday, so I think if people are wanting to come along, they need to hurry up and buy a ticket."

The show would run until April 6.

She said Dunedin residents and visitors could expect a "nice, full week of fashion".

"There's over 70 designers involved with the show, which is huge, so my highlight for me is always meeting all the designers."

Ms Muir was feeling "pretty excited, but pretty nervous" as the start date drew
closer.

"We've got a huge team of sponsors, obviously hair and makeup and sound, lighting . . . there are just so many people in different industries in Dunedin involved with the show, so it's pretty exciting when it does all come together."

Yesterday, some of the 65 models involved in the show were gathered at the Dunedin Railway Station for a practice run.

"They’ll do a few walks, and we'll time them. It's a good opportunity to take the run sheet to see the timing and taking photos of the models for the walk."

This year marks the fashion show’s 25th anniversary.

While the show would showcase national and international talent, homegrown and up-and-coming Dunedin designers would also have the chance to showcase their designs.
