An early morning drinker whose vehicle slammed into a wall in Dunedin had a breath-alcohol level that was three times the legal limit, police say.

Senior Sergeant Anthony Bond, of Dunedin, said police were called to Forfar St, in Maryhill, at 7.25am yesterday

where a 40-year-old man had crashed a vehicle into a building.

The man recorded a breath-alcohol level of 762mcg.

He already had a no-alcohol condition on his licence, Snr Sgt Bond said.

He faces charges of drink-driving and driving contrary to the conditions of a zero-alcohol licence.

There were no reported injuries.
