Airbus to cater for Cup

Dunedin International Airport will have increased domestic seat capacity during the 2011 Rugby World Cup, it was confirmed yesterday.

Air New Zealand domestic airline general manager John Whittaker said the airline would increase its capacity by 10.5% on its domestic jet network from January 2011, and 26% during the tournament.

Route details would be released closer to the time, but Dunedin would have additional capacity.

During the duration of the World Cup, capacity is expected to be increased to 26%, he said.

The additional capacity will be achieved by the arrival of its new Airbus A320 fleet, which will be configured with 171 seats.
