The 24-year-old Dunedin woman celebrated the news Ed Sheeran would be performing in her hometown by declaring to the world of social media: ''HE'S COMING TO DUNEDIN!!!!! HE'S COMING HE'S COOOOMING''.
The Facebook post was accompanied by a photo of herself photoshopped next to Ed.
Miss Kirk said she had been prepared to travel to see Sheeran play, so she was blown away when she heard he would be coming to Dunedin.
''It's still sinking in,'' she said yesterday.
''I was completely prepared and willing to fly to Auckland, so to see his coming to my own city is a dream come true.''
Miss Kirk said she had been a fan of Sheeran since before he shot to pop superstardom with his debut studio album +.
She had already coaxed some co-workers into ensuring she secured tickets to the Dunedin concert.
''I have recruited some girls at work. I will have three or four laptops on stand-by trying to get tickets,'' she said.
''I absolutely adore the man. He's incredibly humble and real, and likes to give back to people who have got him to where he is.''
It was those attributes which set him apart from the crowd of modern pop performers.
''The things he writes about are very real. In a world where the artists are singing about very materialistic things, Ed's singing about real things, real emotions,'' she said.
He also had an ''ability to captivate such a diverse audience''.
While Miss Kirk was looking forward to Sheeran's presence in the city, she planned on giving him his privacy.
''I would not complain if I run into him. I want him to leave here with positive feedback of Dunedin.''
