The Otago Settlers Museum attracted 66,501 visitors, exceeding the 60,000 annual target, in the past financial year ending on June 30, a museum report says.
A total of 11,595 visits had been made in the first four months of the new financial year, until October 25, down from about 16,700 at this stage last year.
Museum director Linda Wigley said the economic downturn had affected visitor numbers, but she was optimistic that visitation would soon increase.
