The Dunedin Fringe Festival has $25,000 to give away.

The Creative New Zealand funding is for artists developing new work or touring works to Dunedin for next year's Fringe.

Festival director Paul Smith said the funded works would add depth and vitality to the 2012 programme.

"Our focus is on innovative and experimental work that engages, provokes and entertains," Mr Smith said this week.

"That can be anything from physical theatre to classical music, as long as it is pushing the boundaries of what people would normally expect."

The closing date for funding applications is October 22. Artist registrations are due by November 18.
